I study public relation at University of Westminster in London and just worked on a essay with the same topic. I think that Internet advertising will become even bigger, though, they will in the future be more creative and come up with new advertising strategys. I really agree with you on that the mass advertising will eventually die out. The new advertising we will see in the future will be much "smarter".

Hi,

I would like to leave a comment as well. I would quite agree with the mentioned below, PR is reflecting a bad reputation and this is in my opinion mainly because of the marketers. Marketing is trying to undermine PR and take over the discipline as well - therefore the emergance of MPR, ICM etc. Those two disciplines are being subject of constant debates, they're been fighting for their position all the time.

Helena, have you though about the gap between the academic sphare and practise of PR? Where do you see the discrepeances? This is the subject of my dissertation and I would love to hear your opinion.

Congrates on the blog!

I respect anyone who fights for what they believe in and to do something like that is truly admirable. I say good luck to him - I will take your advice and follow him on Twitter.

Thanks for commenting, Richard! Indeed, what used to be the 'small' is quite 'big' now - and consequently, asymmetrical. I think it's time to look beyond stereotypes also on the social web, which gains more colors by day.

About my English - I'm not sure. Maybe it's good writing exercise to blog in two languages simultaneously?

Well said: we've heard too much about A list bloggers and celebrities on twitter with millions of followers. This is completely asymmetrical.

Yet when asked about the possibility of two-way symmetrical communications in online social spaces, Clary Shirky has said the following. 'Large; symmetrical; engaged. Pick two.'

(BTW - your written English has become much more fluent. How come?)
